Why do some designs need to leave crafting slots during furniture making? Whether crafting slots are needed usually depends on the following factors:
The first consideration is our furniture design needs. If the designer wants to increase the visual layering or decorativeness of the furniture, crafting slots can be used as an effective design element. For example, traditional furniture, classical style furniture or high-end custom furniture often use crafting slots to enhance the aesthetics.

Crafting slots also have functional requirements: some furniture designs require process grooves to achieve specific functions, such as embedding decorative strips, fixing glass panels, or as decorative edges. Process grooves can help furniture achieve these design functions; or if a plane is too large and does not use one board to complete a plane, it needs to be spliced with multiple boards. Crafting slots can be made at the connection points between the boards to make it look more natural.
It can be used to hide defects: If there are seams or defects in the wood or splicing parts of the furniture, crafting slots can be used to cover these problems and make the appearance of the furniture more uniform and neat. In some designs, crafting slots can enhance the structural strength of furniture by reducing stress concentration in the wood, especially when it is necessary to reduce material weight or stress distribution.
For some styles of furniture, such as Chinese classical furniture, the craft groove is part of the traditional craftsmanship and has important cultural and aesthetic value. In these cases, the craft slot or groove is not just a decoration, but a part of the style.
If the customer has special requirements for the furniture and requires us to add the craft slots as a design element or functional part when deepening the furniture drawings, the manufacturer needs to adjust according to the customer's needs.
